Product Description

SMD CMS is a modified non-ionic polysaccharide which provides filtration control to normal water based muds as well as those that must remain free of ionic additives. This natural polymer is effective in all make-up water, including high-salinity and high-hardness brines such as NaCl, KCl, MgCl2 , CaCl2 and complex brines.

Applications:

SMD CMS is used primarily for filtration control. It is recommended for use in areas where conventional starch products, which are mildly ionic in nature, are not suitable for use. It contributes to a reduction in differential sticking and a thin, tough filter cake.

Recommended Treatment:

Typical dosages range from 3 – 12 kg / m3 (1 – 4.2 lb / bbl) depending on the level of filtrate control required.
